National Cancer Survivor’s Day is a celebration of life. Join Overlook Medical Center as we honor cancer survivors in our community and remember those who we’ve lost. Festivities include keynote speeches from a medical oncologist and a cancer survivor, as well as an art gallery, floral arrangements and brunch. The event takes place on Saturday, June 3 from 10:30am to 12:30pm at Overlook Medical Center in the Bouras Auditorium. Register now >


Cancer Programs and Screenings


Education and prevention can keep you and your loved ones healthy.  We invite you to take advantage of the programs, support groups and screenings available. Unless otherwise noted, to register for any of these programs call 1-800-247-9580 Monday through Thursday between 8:30am to 8:00pm and Friday between 8:30am and 4:30pm, or sign-up online at Atlantic Health System’s classes and events registration; all programs are free unless a fee is indicated.

Art Expressions
Art therapy promotes relaxation and supports healing on all levels – mind, body and spirit. This weekly group is open to adults who are currently undergoing cancer treatment or have completed treatment within the last year. No artistic experience is necessary and all materials are supplied.

Survivor Celebration
Carol G. Simon Cancer Center invites cancer survivors to a ceremony where they will be honored. One of our physicians and a former patient will also discuss survivorship; brunch is included.

Mindfulness Tools for Cancer Recovery
Cancer patients and their caregivers can learn the practice of mindful meditation to help aid the healing process.

This course covers a wide range of topics to assist patients in identifying the sources of stress and ways to effectively manage and respond to them.

Qi Gong and Tai Chi for Healing
Partake in gentle movement, breathing and meditation exercises designed to activate the body’s natural ability to heal. This class is open to all cancer patients and their caregivers.

Drop In Meditation and Mindful Movement
Cancer patients can learn guided meditation and movement practices to aid them both during and after treatment.

Scar Massage
Carol G. Simon Cancer Center at Overlook Medical Center mastectomy patients who are at least six weeks post-surgery can receive a private session with a certified massage therapist to help manage their surgical scars.

Breast Cancer Support Group
A licensed social worker and registered nurse lead a discussion-based peer support group for Overlook Medical Center patients in their first year of breast cancer treatment.

Preparing for Breast Cancer Surgery
Patients who will be having breast cancer surgery and their family members can learn how to prepare for their upcoming operation and hospital stay, as well as available support resources.
